Cardinal Timothy Dolan held an Easter mass at Sing Sing prison, a maximum security facility in Westchester. During the service, the inmates sang songs and dropped to their knees to pray.
Nearly 20 percent of the 1,600 all-male inmates at the facility are Catholic, making Cardinal Dolan’s trip an important visit to them, and it means even more to him.
“I really enjoy visiting the inmates to pray with them, to be with them. I find them very sincere, I find them very humble, I find them so eager to pray and to seek God’s mercy and forgiveness,” said Cardinal Timothy Dolan.
While his schedule is not yet been set, Cardinal Dolan said he would be back in the area at another facility around Christmas time.
