A social service worker was sentenced to as many as three years in prison for plowing into and killing an Ossining judicial candidate while driving drunk.

Michelle Sergio, 39, of Nanuet, was sentenced to one to three years in prison Friday in connection with the incident just over a year ago. She pleaded guilty in May to vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.

Sergio was on her way to work in her Nissan Altima around 10:00 p.m. Sept. 3, 2013, when her car hit John Mangialardi, 55, as he crossed Route 9A in Ossining. He died at the scene.

Sergio’s mother has said her daughter was drinking sake at a restaurant before the crash.

The Westchester County District Attorney’s office said Sergio’s blood alcohol level was 50 percent above the legal limit for driving.

Mangialardi, of Briarcliff Manor, was a Republican candidate for Ossining town justice.
