Carmela Stangarone Trapasso Passes At 104

Carmela Stangarone Trapasso of Ossining passed away peacefully on September 10, 2018. She was born July 17, 1914 in New Rochelle, NY to Vincenzo Stangarone and Carmela Macchia Stangarone.

Carmela graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1933. She graduated from Westchester School of Nursing, Grasslands in 1936. She served in the U.S. Army as a nurse from 1940-1950 and was stationed in Branford, England during WWII where she supervised 18 surgical wards. The hospital treated 7,000 American soldiers wounded in the invasion of Normandy and subsequent campaigns.

After being discharged from the Army Carmela was employed as Director of Nursing at Briar Crest Nursing Home in Ossining from 1954-1994.

Carmela was pre-deceased by her husband Orlando Trapasso, 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She is survived by her daughter Donna (Douglas) MacArthur, Grandchildren Chris MacArthur and Gina (Bill) Feeks and three great grandchildren – Billy, Justin and Katie Feeks and many nieces and nephews.

Reposing Dorsey Funeral Home Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 02:00 – 04:00 p.m. and 07:00 – 09:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m at St. Ann’s Church. Internment: Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
