OVAC is comprised of members both volunteer and career who provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week 365 days a year. Our members come from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. Some are teachers, dentists, accountants, students, other health related professionals, and office workers. Sometimes, our only common bond is our desire to be of service to the citizens of the Ossining School District our legally binding coverage area.

We currently have 25 active Members and over 40 Life members who have given over 10 years of service to the Ossining Community. The minimum age is 16 years old to join as a Youth Member. Ages of our volunteers vary from 16 year old high school students, adults with young families to retirees. Despite our diversity, we often form common bonds and life long friendships. A large number of couples met and married as members.

Monthly training is part of the required duties of our membership. OVAC provides training for all members. EMT classes are held at our facilities and neighboring communities in conjunction with the Phelps Pre-Hospital Training Department. First Aid and CPR courses are also taught by our members as needed for anyone interested. Formal and informal social events provide us with the opportunity to gather as members with our families and be part of a larger OVAC family. Our membership also take part in many community events such as parades, standbys at church bazaars and street fairs, make presentations in our schools in addition to our primary responsibility of answering emergency medical care calls.
